Who is R3HAB?

“Who is R3hab?” was the response I got the other day when was talking to a random group of “EDM fans” I started a conversation with. Although I did find it quite amusing, I took advantage of the opportunity to introduce them to one of the worlds best DJ’s. R3HAB is a DJ that truly loves to perform; he appreciates his fans and is a brilliant producer.  He hails from the Netherlands and joins the class of DJ's such as Hardwell, Afrojack and Chuckie.

He has graced the city of Toronto a few times in the past few years playing at Digital Dreams and Uniun nightclub. I have had the opportunity to check him out at the listed events as well as at Electric Daisy Carnival and Ultra Music Festival this year.  Each show is full of energy and you can expect him to play a mix of genres from progressive house, electro house, to trap.

So Fadil (aka R3HAB) don’t worry situation averted, hopefully tonight at Guvernment there will be some fresh fans amongst us!

End of Year Round-up

Well it looks like our friend Calvin Harris will be joining us again here in Toronto.  He was here a few months ago for a sold out show at the sound academy with a great performance and will take on Uniun Nightclub for their ‘Factory Fridays’ on December 28. The Scottish born performer who’s actual name is Adam Richard Wiles is one of many talents; not only is he a solid DJ he is a singer, songwriter and record producer.  Calvin has just released a new album called ’18 months’, which is loaded with collaborated talent and club infused tracks.  They are so good I must name them: Bounce (feat. Kelis), Feel so Close, We Found Love (feat. Rihanna), We’ll Be Coming Back (feat. Example), Iron (Nicky Romero), Sweet Nothing (feat. Florence Welch), Let’s Go (fear. Ne-Yo) and Awooga.

The Hoxton has some treats lined up for this week with Madeon playing on December 27, Flosstradamus on December 28, Feliz Cartel on December 29 and Dzeko & Torres with their NYE event.

If you are in Montreal or have the means to be traveling that way, New Gas City is gearing up for Festival Lumen. I am looking over the line-up for a second time and I am happily delighted.  The 3 evening festival will see Skrillix and Alvin Risk on Dec 27, Sebastian Ingrosso, Borgore and Otto Knows on Dec 28 and Porter Robinson, Hardrock Sofa, Sander Kleinenberg and Project 46 closing out the festivities on Dec 29.  If that isn’t the event that is going to exhaust you until New Years Eve I don’t know what will.

Here is a quick run down of NYE events for consideration:

If I had an unrestricted choice of party I believe it would be between the Dada life or Afrojack event.  Ultimately I think I would go with Dada Life based on their performance here in Toronto this year, which was a wild wild night, and I know this event will be no different!

What ever you choose to do for and up until new years have a safe and happy holiday, hug someone and party safe!

Toronto needs R3HAB!

On Friday November 9, 2013 Toronto will receive a much-needed dose of R3HAB.  The 26 year old Dutch DJ and producer will be playing at UNIUN nightclub along with DVBBS and Manzone & Strong. R3HAB who has hit the DJ Mag top 100 at spot number 73 is well accomplished in his field and is in the ranks among the best in the world.  He has contributed to remixing for artists such as:  Calvin Harris, Lil’ Wayne, Ne-Yo, Pitbull, Dada Life, Snoop Dogg and Bob Sinclar.

In an interview, Fadil El Ghoul who is known as R3HAB expresses "AfroJack helped me a lot. I was support act on his tour, he helped me with lots of stuff and advice. We did lots of gigs together, which was amazing." The industry has changed over the last few years and Dj/producers are not so much as competing with each other but are making an effort to collaborate.

DVBBS are not to be under estimated, they are a big-ticket item on this ballot.  They are popping everywhere opening for huge acts such as Dada Life and playing at festivals internationally.  They have a great sound and I look forward to the energy they bring to the nightlife scene. There recently announced the New Years Eve event “Golden” held in Niagara Falls Canada will be epic and will see them alongside Deadmau5, Chris Lake, Burns and the Scour Dj’s.

Uniun nightclub recently played host to CHUS+CEBALLOS and did an excellent job at making the duo feel at home with a packed crowd at the clubs soft opening night.  The sights and sounds kept the party going past 4am and it is no doubt that the anticipation for R3HAB will be no different. Be sure to get your tickets now and arrive early to avoid disappointment!

Upcoming events at UNIUN:
Nov 09, 2012 R3HAB and DVBBS
Nov 16, 2012 Sidney Samson
Nov 30, 2012 AN21 and Max Vangeli
